SUBSTANCE MISUSE
Drug-Free Communities Grant
HCC secured a Drug Free Communities Grant in late 2019 which can only be used in the prevention of youth alcohol, tobacco, marijuana and other illicit drug use in the Town of Hartford. This grant is awarded over five years to community coalitions to strengthen the infrastructure among local partners to create and sustain a reduction in local youth substance use.
Alcohol and Drug Prevention Resources
Adolescence is a critical time for preventing drug addiction as early use of drugs increases a person’s chances of becoming addicted. Drugs change the brain—and this can lead to addiction and other serious problems. So, preventing early use of drugs or alcohol may go a long way in reducing these risks.
